From Pastor… to Pastures

Every great journey begins with a seed.

For us, that seed wasn't planted in a garden—it was planted in our hearts.

For years, life revolved around busy schedules, full-time careers, ministry, and serving others. Jim faithfully served as a pastor while working full-time, and Malissa dedicated her life to education, helping students discover confidence through learning. Like many families, we dreamed of slowing down, spending more time together, and building something that would outlast us.

That dream eventually became Bonded Fields.

We didn't start with acres of perfect farmland, expensive equipment, or generations of farming experience. We started with a willingness to learn, a desire to work hard, and faith that God would guide each step of the journey.

Since then, we've experienced the same highs and lows that every homesteader faces. We've celebrated successful harvests, cared for growing flocks, learned from failed projects, and discovered that setbacks often become our greatest teachers. Every challenge has strengthened our resolve and reminded us that building a meaningful life takes patience, perseverance, and trust in God's timing.

As we shared our journey online, something unexpected happened. People weren't just interested in the farm—they connected with the purpose behind it. Families began following along, asking questions, celebrating victories with us, and learning from our experiences. We realized Bonded Fields could become more than our homestead. It could become a place of encouragement and education for others.

Today, Bonded Fields is built on three enduring values:

Faith

We believe God calls us to faithfully steward His creation and to use our gifts to serve others with humility, integrity, and love.

Family

Strong families build strong communities. Everything we do is centered on creating opportunities for families to learn, grow, work, and make lasting memories together.

Stewardship

Whether caring for the land, raising livestock, or sharing knowledge, we believe every resource is a gift that should be managed wisely for future generations.

Looking ahead, our vision reaches far beyond our own property. We are working to create a place where children, families, churches, homeschool groups, and aspiring homesteaders can experience hands-on learning through workshops, demonstrations, and educational events. We want Bonded Fields to be a place where people leave with practical skills, renewed confidence, and the inspiration to cultivate something meaningful in their own lives.

This isn't simply about growing vegetables or raising chickens.

It's about growing people.

It's about strengthening families.

It's about leaving a legacy of faith, stewardship, and service that will continue long after we're gone.
